PLAYEDIT STUDIOS
Cubiosity
Privacy Policy
Effective November 4, 2026
Your game, your choices.
About this policy
This policy explains how PlayEdit Studios LLC handles information in Cubiosity, our friend-challenge service, and playeditstudios.com. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@playeditstudios.com.
This version describes the current testing version of Cubiosity. Optional paid theme bundles are planned but are not enabled in this version. We will update this policy before introducing new data practices.
Information stored on your device
Cubiosity saves progress, scores, game records, statistics, settings, and your selected theme on your device. You do not need a player account. Normal play does not upload those saved records to our challenge service unless you choose to create a shared challenge.
Your device's backup and transfer features may copy local app data according to your device settings. Clearing app storage can erase local progress. Removing local data or uninstalling the game does not remove challenges you have already uploaded.
Friend challenges
When you create a shareable challenge link, Cubiosity uploads the starting cube layout, cube score, completion indicators, longest word, highest-scoring word and its score, and remaining block count. We store this information with a generated challenge identifier and creation time so another player can open the same puzzle and compare results.
Anyone with the challenge link can view its contents and pass it to others. Creating a link uploads the challenge before your device's share menu opens; cancelling that menu does not undo the upload. Opening or importing a challenge link connects to our service to retrieve it.
The challenge payload does not include your name, email address, contact list, or advertising identifier. Copy Challenge places the challenge code on your clipboard. If you use another app to send it, that app's privacy practices also apply. You can play without creating online challenge links.
Connection information and security
Our website and challenge service are hosted by Cloudflare. Connecting to them involves technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, time of request, and browser or device request information. Cloudflare processes connection information to deliver and protect these services, and may derive general geographic information from network addresses for its network and security services.
To limit excessive challenge uploads, our service uses a keyed, daily-changing identifier derived from your IP address, together with request counts and expiration times. It does not store the raw IP address in the challenge or upload-limit tables. This identifier is used for abuse prevention, not advertising or player profiling.
Challenge uploads and downloads use HTTPS encryption in transit. Access to administrative systems is restricted. Shared challenge links are intended for sharing and are not private storage.
Cloudflare's separate service and security records are governed by its applicable service terms and privacy policy. The seven-day database recovery period described below does not describe every type of Cloudflare record.
Website, support, and other services
Our studio website does not include advertising scripts, embedded marketing analytics, or a newsletter signup form. Email links open your email application. Hosting and security services may process technical request information as described above.
If you contact us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you send. We use these to respond, troubleshoot, and handle privacy or removal requests. Our email providers process these messages to deliver and store correspondence.
We use service providers to operate hosting, storage, and email. We may disclose information where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the service, users, or legal rights. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we rely on the safeguards available under our provider agreements and applicable law.
Diagnostics, advertising, and purchases
The current Cubiosity testing configuration disables Unity engine diagnostics, Unity Analytics, and cloud crash reporting. Cubiosity currently contains no advertising and no in-app purchases. External store and device services may process information under their own privacy policies.
How long we keep information
- Local game data: remains on your device until removed or replaced by the game or device controls. Device backups may retain copies.
- Shared challenges: have no scheduled expiration. We keep them available until the challenge service is retired, unless removed earlier following a valid request or for legal or security reasons. We will delete live challenge data within 30 days of retiring the service.
- Upload-limit records: use minute and daily limits. Expired records are cleaned during later qualifying upload requests. Because cleanup is request-driven, records can remain longer when uploads are inactive.
- Database recovery: our current Cloudflare database has a seven-day recovery window. Deleted records may remain in that recovery history until it ages out. Approved removals must be reapplied if we restore older data.
- Support messages: routine correspondence is deleted within 12 months after resolution. We retain information longer where necessary for an unresolved request, legal obligations, or a dispute.
Provider-operated service and security records follow the provider's applicable retention practices. Any additional exports under our control must be included when handling removal or service retirement.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can choose not to upload challenges, manage local data through your device, and contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of information we hold about you. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to object to or restrict processing, receive a portable copy, or complain to a data protection authority.
For a challenge-removal request, email hello@playeditstudios.com with the challenge link and a brief explanation. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information. We may request limited additional information to assess the request and reasonably verify your relationship to the data.
There are no player accounts or private deletion tokens, so possession of a public challenge link alone does not prove authorship. We assess requests individually, explain any limitations, and respond as required by applicable law. Copies already saved or shared by other people may be outside our control.
Purposes and legal bases
We process challenge data to provide the sharing feature you request, connection and upload-limit information to operate and secure our services, and support correspondence to respond to you. Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the requested service, our legitimate interests in security and support balanced against your rights, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where required. You may withdraw consent where processing is based on it; this does not affect earlier lawful processing.
Age audience
Cubiosity is intended for teenagers aged 13 and older and adults, and is not directed to children under 13. We do not ask players to create an account or provide a birth date. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and address it. Additional protections may apply to younger users under local law.
Changes and contact
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent for material changes.
